
His Excellency the Mayor of Beit Jala, Issa Al-Qassis, members of the Municipal Council, employees of the municipality and the Beit Jala Police Department received the Program Coordinator for Turkish Cooperation in Palestine, His Excellency Mr. Orhan Aydin and the Project Officer for Turkish Cooperation, Eng. Daoud Qatina, at the Municipality Hall. This visit came to shed light on the organic waste recycling project that was completed with generous funding from Turkish Cooperation.
The meeting was opened by His Excellency the Mayor with a welcoming speech to Mr. Aydin and Eng. Daoud and explained to them the challenges that the city is going through in light of these difficult conditions and the resulting economic impacts that have negatively affected the living conditions of the city's citizens.
He appreciated the Turkish position in support of the Palestinian people and their constant support for us and explained to him about our close relationship with the Turkish Municipality of Kizilcehamam, which has been twinned with the Beit Jala Municipality since 2023.
He pointed to the historical relationship between the municipality and Turkish Cooperation through their support for local institutions in the city.
He also thanked them for their continuous support to the health sector in the city by providing us with the latest mechanisms and equipment necessary to promote a better health and environmental sector capable of providing services to citizens with high quality. Through their support for the organic waste recycling project, we were able to purchase a machine capable of converting waste into organic materials to benefit from it in creating a healthy environment.
His Excellency the Mayor stressed the importance of continuing to enhance means of joint cooperation between the two parties and presented His Excellency Mr. Orhan Aydin with an honorary shield as an expression of thanks and gratitude for their support for the organic waste recycling project.
In turn, His Excellency Mr. Aydin expressed his pleasure with his first visit to the Beit Jala Municipality and thanked the municipality staff for the warm reception and pointed out the importance of exploring ways of cooperation in projects that serve other sectors in the city.
